Calgary Transit operates a fleet of 156 Siemens – Duwag built Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) that run on 44.9 kilometers of track and service 38 stations. The “CTrain” as it is known today began operation in 1981 May with one line, starting at Anderson Station and ending at 8 Street West Station.

Checker Yellow Cabs was introduced to Calgary in 1984 when it was realized that taxi service in Calgary was in serious need of improvement. Deciding to emphasize quality and service, Checker started with twelve full-sized luxury sedans, with drivers attired in suits.

VIA operates up to 503 trains weekly on 12,500 kilometres of track, and serves 450 communities across the country, from coast to coast and north to Hudson Bay. VIA carried close to 4.2 million customers in 2007.
