the concept of the Broken Plate is modeled around kefi (Greek for good humor and fun). The fresh colours, contemporary lighting, and modern ambiance give them a warm urban feel, remote from the traditional whitewashed, blue-accented environment adopted by many of its counterparts. The high-quality cuisine is mainly comprised of time-honored Greek recipes, with some modern style dishes, prepared and adorned by five-star chefs, yet reasonably priced. On Friday and Saturday evenings plates are broken, while our staff dance “Zorba the Greek” and “Zebekika”, to assist our patrons in the spirit of kefi.
At the Broken Plate, we serve a wide variety of tasty mezethes (appetizers), from tzatziki (homemade yogurt, cucumber, and garlic dip) to saganaki (melted kefalotiri cheese, flambéed tableside in brandy). The menu then flows into a selection of salates (salads), with the essential horiatiki (Greek village salad), and then to our soupa (soups) comprised of the classic avgolemono (a Greek soup with chicken and rice, with a hint of lemon). Our mesimerina (lunch entrées) and gevmata (dinner entrées) delivers a mouth-watering selection of lamb, chicken, beef, and seafood. From the slow braised lamb shank (kleftico), to the rich filo parcel of fresh Atlantic Salmon, spinach, feta and fired peppers (exohiko salmon), to our signature souvlaki (available in chicken, beef, seafood, and lamb), our entrées are fit for the Gods. The moussaka (a traditional Greek casserole) leads the medley of pastas. And last, but not least, the glyka (desserts). To accompany the fare is our wine list, comprised of an array of fine Greek wines, as well as others from around the globe.
